A Spoonful of Poison is a free-for-all almost-anything-goes open-mic every Monday
A Spoonful of Poison is anarchic, shambolic, chaotic, irreverant, lively, funny, weird, challenging, infuriating and refreshingly invigorating. It is not stale, sycophantic, navel-gazing, self-congratulatory, tired, clinical or dull – criticisms that can, in our experience, be leveled at a fair few open-mic nights…
A Spoonful of Poison is open to everyone : Bands, musicians, singers, poets, comics, magicians, mime artists, story tellers, rappers, beat-boxers and, though we haven’t seen any for a while, we’re big fans of the Random Slapstick Weirdo.
NO COVERS are allowed. We simply don’t understand why anyone would want to listen to them. In our experience most people who perform covers have much better self-penned material than their very average covers. It’s just more interesting init ?
Entry is FREE and you can get a spot just by turning up on the night between 7&8pm and writing your name in a box on the sign up sheet, which should be on the bar.
