From The Finsbury to the Big Stage: Tom Grennan Comes Home

Last night, The Finsbury welcomed back someone who has a very special place in our history — Tom Grennan.

It was a pretty special night for us.

Tom first played his first London gig at The Finsbury back in November 2015, that night he got discovered and ultimately signed to Insanity Records in early 2016. Two weeks later he’s across the road in Finsbury Park playing Wireless Festival to 40,000 people. Last night, he came back 10 years later for an exclusive acoustic set and fan meet and greet to celebrate the release of ‘Looking Back Live’. Performing a set of never heard before material from the upcoming album, as well as smash hits ‘Little Bit of Love’ & ‘Something in The Water’. We welcomed 400 fans into the venue many of which were queueing from early afternoon to catch the intimate set. After the show he stayed and met every single one of his fans in attendance after announcing he would be sticking around on stage, calling his fans ‘the best in the world!’

We’ve also recorded a short interview with Tom during his visit, talking about his connection with The Finsbury, his memories of those early days, touring life and what it feels like to come back to the place where his journey began.

We’re adding the interview to this blog so you can hear Tom’s own words and listen to him reflect on his Finsbury story.

Because sometimes the best way to understand what a place means is to hear it from the person who was there.

A look back

Years ago, Tom spoke at The Finsbury about why grassroots music venues matter so much to artists starting out.
